Apple and Caramel Dessert Pizza aka The Warm Hug!

Apple and Caramel Dessert Pizza aka The Warm Hug!

When the weather cools down and the wind picks up, there’s something deeply comforting about the smell of apple and cinnamon wafting through the house. It's the scent of warmth, memories, and indulgence — and what better way to bring that vibe to your table than with a dessert pizza?

This sweet treat, which we’ve lovingly dubbed “The Warm Hug”, is everything you want in a winter dessert: easy to make, incredibly satisfying, and guaranteed to win over everyone at the table. Think soft baked apple, gooey cheese, golden crust, and a sticky caramel drizzle to finish it all off.

Let’s get into it.

The Warm Hug Pizza

Apple, Caramel & Cinnamon Dessert Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 ball of pizza dough (about 270g)

  • 1/4 can of apple pie filling (I like the kind with small cubes of tender apple)

  • Fior di latte mozzarella (just a few pieces – don’t overdo it)

  • Ground cinnamon

  • Caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • Whipped cream (for serving)

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven as hot as it goes — ideally around 400°C in a pizza oven or 250°C in a home oven with a pizza stone or steel.

  2. Stretch your dough into a pizza base. Keep the edges slightly thicker for that lovely puffy crust.

  3. Top with spoonfuls of apple pie filling, spreading it gently across the base. Try not to overload — a light layer is perfect.

  4. Tear a few pieces of fior di latte mozzarella and scatter them over the apples. The cheese melts down and brings everything together in that creamy, dreamy way only cheese can.

  5. Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon for that classic warm spice aroma.

  6. Bake until the crust is golden and the cheese has just started to bubble — about 60–90 seconds in a pizza oven or 7–10 minutes in a conventional oven.

  7. Drizzle with caramel sauce as soon as it comes out of the oven. Be generous — it’s dessert, after all.

  8. Serve warm with whipped cream

🧡 Why It Works

The apple pie filling gives you soft, spiced fruit without the fuss. Fior di latte might sound unusual on a dessert pizza, but it adds a subtle richness that balances the sweetness. And caramel? Well, caramel makes everything better.

This pizza is perfect for those cozy nights when you want something special but don’t feel like baking a whole dessert. Serve it after a pizza night or as a winter weekend treat with hot drinks and blankets.

Try it out and let us know — did it give you that “warm hug” feeling too?
